Cypherpunk
Cypherpunk is a movement focused on cryptography and privacy-focused technologies. The term was coined in the early 1990s by a small group of activists who saw the potential for these technologies to promote social and political change. Cypherpunks are often associated with the development of strong cryptography, which is used to protect communications from eavesdropping and to ensure privacy. They also advocate the use of decentralized technologies, such as peer-to-peer networks, which are less vulnerable to government surveillance and censorship. In recent years, the cypherpunk movement has been increasingly concerned with the issue of online privacy, as well as the use of cryptography to protect against identity theft and other forms of online fraud. |
