Dusting Attack
| Dusting attacks are a type of cryptocurrency attack that occurs when malicious individuals take advantage of users that don’t pay attention to the small number on their wallet address. By “dusting” a large number of addresses, the attacker can send a few satoshis to each one in an attempt to deanonymize the user. This type of attack is particularly effective against users of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies that don’t have built-in privacy features. In a dusting attack, the attacker sends a small amount of cryptocurrency (usually just a few satoshis) to a large number of addresses. The goal is to deanonymize the user by linking their real-world identity to their cryptocurrency address. This type of attack is particularly effective against users of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies that don’t have built-in privacy features. To protect yourself from a dusting attack, you should pay attention to the small number on your wallet address. If you see a large number of small transactions coming into your wallet, it’s possible that you’re being targeted by an attacker. You can also use a cryptocurrency wallet that has built-in privacy features to make it more difficult for attackers to deanonymize you. |
