Minting
| Minting is the process of creating new cryptocurrency coins via the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm. In order to mint new coins, a user must first stake a certain amount of their existing coins. Once the coins have been staked, the user will then be able to mint new coins proportional to the amount that was staked. The PoS algorithm is a way of ensuring that all users have a fair chance of minting new coins, as opposed to the Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm, which gives an advantage to users with more powerful hardware. |
