Rehypothecation

Rehypothecation is a practice of banks or brokers using the collateral assets of their clients for their own benefits. It is a common practice in the securities industry, and allows firms to use the collateral to increase their own lending and investment activities. However, it can also be a risky practice, as it can lead to a loss of control over the assets for the client.
