| A spoon is a type of blockchain fork in which a new coin acquires the old cryptocurrency’s account balances. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as a change in the underlying blockchain protocol or a shift in the community’s consensus. Forks can be either temporary or permanent, and they can occur either on-chain or off-chain. |
