Wei

Wei is the smallest denomination of ether. It is named after Wei Dai, the creator of b-money, one of the earliest predecessors to bitcoin.

Wei has a value of 10-18 ETH. This means that 1 ETH = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 Wei. Wei is used to pay transaction fees and is also the smallest unit of account on the Ethereum blockchain.
